Hello, I am Van Nguyen I am married to Kayla Nguyen and we have two children Kayden (13) and Abi (10). We live in St. Augustine,FL
I can be found playing at Veterans Park, World Golf Village Park, Treaty Park and occasionally at Jarboe Park. These are in the St. Augustine, Jacksonville, FL, Jax Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach areas.
I picked up Pickleball fairly quick. I feel this is due to playing high school and college tennis. I was very particular about my racket while playing so I believe it is a very big part of the process when starting pickleball.
I currently play the Selkirk Power Air Invikta. This paddle is not for everyone. It has a lot of pop and spin but much less control and forgiveness. It’s amazing from the baseline on your serve and returns but you sacrifice in the kitchen unless you have soft hands and can control the extra pop. With this paddle you will need soft hands when in the kitchen because it does have that extra pop. You will also need to work on that third shot drop so that you don’t leave it high.
I love playing pickleball and helping others get into the sport and improve their game. Picking a paddle is one of the most important decisions once you start to play competitively or decide you want to up your game. When buying a paddle you need to understand your skill level, playing style, and personal preference. Try several paddles out to feel the differences between all of the options.
